Spirit Dance Workshop in Los Angeles!

A Decade of LOVE

Dance - literally - saved my life.  10 years ago (2008) marked a very dark time of trauma, internal struggle and external onslaughts of hardship... then, finally GROWTH that I wouldn't give up for anything in the world.  Though, the journey was not always pleasant.  From my physical health to my emotional/mental health to my spiritual health... I developed all of the textbook issues and challenges of those who experience violence and trauma and suppress its symptoms.  After my father's death, I cleaned up my uncle's suicide (he shot himself, and I helped retrieve letters and belongings he left behind), I found myself mutually estranged from a family support system, isolating myself in my work and living alone for a decade... during that time I had no idea how much trauma I held in my body until I finally admitted something was off (though I'm as womanly as they come, I am such a guy when it comes to both dealing with stress and compartmentalizing information in my mind).  I went to therapy, I went to support groups, I got lost in relationships I knew I didn't want (as I acquired the false belief that love was not worth it if it could leave me), I buried friends and then began self-destructive behavior.  I'm a happy hedonist, but the fun I searched for at the beginning did not make me happy and I knew it (hence the destructive label).  To this day it perplexes me that I never became a drug addict.  I did other things that could have killed me (including testing fate and doing dangerous things that could have shattered all my bones and killed me).  Grief is a real thing and those of us who do not recover from it for long periods of time (my father was my best friend) begin to push through and life half-lives until we feel "OK" enough to enjoy life.  Dance... quite frankly... was my only joy.  And sharing it with others was my wonderful workaholic place of living.  Now, a decade later, recognizing so much growth and healing I have achieved through movement (figurative, too) I want to celebrate a decade of my father moving onto greater adventures.  Subscribe to my email list or follow me on Facebook for information.  I'll be teaching a free hula workshop in February when I come back from a project in Mexico (more news on that soon).  I'm thinking the end of February or even the beginning of March 2018 (my father's birth month).  Sending you all my love and thanking you for supporting a business that has not only helped empower others but... saved my life at the worst point of my self-destructive behavior a decade ago.  It's my life's passion to share this joy that is dance with others.  Sharing our stories and sharing art is so healing.  Thank you for the beauty and experience that has become my life's work and joy.  I can't wait to share a free hula workshop with you all!  Sacred Dance is also coming to LA in early March, too!  Stay tuned.  BIG LOVE!  xoxo T.

Coming Clean, Tehani's Sabbatical & Coming Back Super-Charged with Vision!

Greetings, friends!  Tehani here xo.  Everyone needs a break sometimes.  It's been so crazy busy here at DT Entertainment, Spirit Dancer Wellness and in my educational work in the arts that my lack of a break turned into a series of BREAKing points and BREAKdowns until I finally yelled BRAAAAKE! and took a real break.  It was time to re-evaluate the way I ran the business and how much of myself I was dedicating to self-care.  I've had a friend handle most invoices and bookings (though I still tended to a good amount of them when I had reception) and took a long camping trip with my pup.  It was the best thing ever!!! Now slowly coming back from sabbatical, focused, super-charged and full of new inspiration and vision... "...and the HEAT goes on..." PAYING IT FORWARD FOR MOTHER EARTH

As my fellow SoCal residents cheer on the Dodgers, I've been at work spinning fire, throwing mermaids in pools and facilitating wellness programming for survivors virtually every night and weekend.  It's been so busy performing and teaching and writing new content that I wanted to give you all a glimpse of what this past month has been characterized by: lots and lots of fire!  So I've provided a short video for you below. 

Fire has been a theme not just in my entertainment work but unfortunately in destruction all over my beautiful State of California.  I can't help but think of all the animals affected by the record-breaking forest fires this month and have decided to donate 10% of every fire performance (or LED light performance) I book to Defenders of Wildlife.  This 10% donation will remain for as long as I do fire shows (which I anticipate being many many years to come).  Pay it forward and book with us today! 

Check out our video (below) for a fire show we did very recently.  OK kids (read: silly adults)... Never EVER play with fire without a fire safety professional, a fire license and fire performer's insurance.  It's standard practice.  Safety first, my friends!

Enjoy the clip!  It's not the best quality video and a very short clip, but I'm always happy when I'm gifted with a video at one of my numerous events.  I'm always too busy working the event to take videos every single weekend, but a new demo reel is on its way in 2020!  Until then, enjoy our current demo reel on the dance page! 

An APCH Comeback & Winter's Wednesdays

Yes! I (Tehani) am back at APCH providing world dance educational programs on Thursday afternoons - woohoo!  Good times and a great cause.  Visit A Place Called Home at their amazing work here.  In addition to this change, though we are in the middle of the high holiday season, I will be taking a SELF CARE day every Wednesday - meaning the office will be closed every Wednesday until 2:00PM so I can sleep in and be functional!  Yay!  Unless I have a booking or contract with you on a Wednesday (which is always available), all office work (emails, calls, new booking requests/inquiries, consultations, etc) will have to be taken after 2:00PM or the following day.  I work seven days a week, and I have finally come to the point where 6.5 days is plenty.  As we near the winter solstice, Wednesday office days will continue to be shut down for self care.  Enjoy the holidays!  xo, T.

Meet the Team: Jerry Reyes!

Hey loves!  Tehani here :)  As per my usual, I've been so busy with bookings and contracts that I haven't had a chance to update the website!  Whew!  The holiday season is upon us and we have been blessed with bookings galore!  Make sure to contact us about our new offerings - it's our best season yet! 

Our next installment of "Meet the Team" highlights our dear Jerry Reyes!  We LOVE Jerry so much here at Dancing Tehani Entertainment.  Our very own personal Master of Disguise, he is one the most versatile costuming/makeup ambience character actors we've got and he is amaaaaaazing at what he does.  He is best known for his work in Disney's first three Pirates of the Caribbean movies and is quite the swordsman onstage!  Need a pirate for an event?  A fully costumed actor (from mardi gras king to regal sheik to renaissance knight) in character for your event's ambience or themed photo booth?  Jerry's your man.  And he's fabulous!  We love you Jerry!  Check out his full bio at IMDB here.

Hey friends!  Tehani here :)  I have WONDERFUL NEWS!  We have simplified the booking process for everyone online - YAY!  Over the years, I've spoken to hundreds upon hundreds of clients, wrote down their information and preferences while on the phone, asked for more information via email to draw up an invoice, asked for more info yet AGAIN when I forgot to add in a category (which was rare, but it has happened)...  I have finally decided it was time to automate the system so we could take much of the leg work out of it on our end and focus on the "good stuff" for you (the details of your fabulous event productions, the steps on your healing journeys, your personal goals in your business, etc.). 

Booking happens in three easy steps:

1 you call or email us with your interest and we confirm your preferred date and time for service is available,

2 we have a happy form for each type of service for you to fill out easily and effortlessly with information from which you will receive an invoice,

3 pay the required booking deposit on the invoice, instantly receive a booking confirmation and BOOM we are booked! 

I love having forms available online.  They're readily available, right when/where we need them and GREEN!  No trees are threatened when using this system and that makes us (and the environment) happy.

Boats, Planes and Trains!

It has been a crazy, fun, adventurous, scary, uplifting... EVERYTHING type of Summer!  We found ourselves on boats and planes and trains... with fire shows and Swedish bands and Spirit Dance empowering programming and wellness workshops and mermaids and live painters and professional development seminars and museums and corporate gigs and mindfulness meditation retreats... I love my life!  And it is an amaaaaaazing life because of YOU - my friends, my clients, my strange creative performing fam bam, my kindred souls and musicians and dancers... my corporate partners, my performance arts residency sponsors, my fellow wellness badasses... all of you!  I love you!  Thank you for a fabulous summer!  Here's to many more!  We not enter holiday booking season, annual wellness retreat season, arts education season, writing writing writing season... and so much more.  Changing gears and ready for the fall and the darker days (fire show season!!!) - let's rock it out!  I'm ready.  Are you?  ;)
